San Diego can get hot during the summer days, but when San Diego gets really hot, heading for the beach or a pool is ideal. But, if you’ve got 2 growing boys (or girls), the new water park at Legoland is THE place to hang out. This is probably the best water park I’ve ever been to…perfect for toddlers and bigger kids. The water park has 2 big pool areas. 1 area is geared for the smaller ones and has a gradual descent to a whopping 1 foot deep. Though the fountains weren’t working at the time, there are also 2 slides to go down. The big hit for me was the lazy river of 3 ft. Deep where I could effortlessly walk Toby around the lazy river as he clung to a lifesaver.

The other pool area was geared towards the bigger kids where the play slides were much higher and the pool was deeper. This one also had a lazy river going around it and this time adults could take a lifesaver and ride themselves. Toby and I got the double lifesaver and went around 3 times. There are also cabanas around the pool areas that can be rented by the day or half-day. This guaranteed a group some shelter from the sun and a bit of privacy. There were plenty of lounge chairs around the pool area so we didn’t need that but I think it’s worth mentioning if you ever plan to go there with a big group.

We also got a chance to see the Sealife Aquariuim. This is not as big as the Monterey Bay Aquarium we go to when we’re in Northern California, but it was fun and educational, nonetheless. we got to see the usual sharks and colorful fish and other creatures along with divers, mermaids, and other things made of Legos that were in the tanks as well.

Check out our photos on Flickr for the colorful and kid-friendly aquarium at Legoland:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/inseader/sets/72157624709777711/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/inseader/sets/72157624833297762/ We can’t wait to head there again when we head to San Diego for Christmas vacation. We got resort passes for a year and after the 2 visits we’ve already made, it’s been well worth it.
