Beta-testing Recipes

I have some friends who are in the process of writing a recipe book. I was lucky enough to be chosen to beta test some of their recipes. The book has an emphasis on using all organic ingredients and also have an Asian and Hawaiian influence (how perfect is that for me?!). So far I’ve only tried 3 of their recipes.

  • Honey Glazed Pulled Pork
  • Vinegar Slaw
  • Watermelon Granita

Needless to say, these 3 were very good. The pulled pork is different than the usual Kahlua Pig recipe that Stuart makes. The Honey Glazed Pulled Pork is a bit sweeter and definitely just as good. There is no smokey flavor in this version. The Vinegar slaw went well with the pulled pork and I added rice, of course. I can’t have this meal without some rice! It was all delicious. The meal was topped off with Watermelon Granita for dessert. I wish I had remembered to take a picture, but it was so good I got distracted. The magic ingredient for this Granita is Agave Nectar. It was the perfect summer dessert. Kids loved it, too.P.S. I’d post the recipe, but since the book is not out yet, I’m assuming I’m in a non-disclosure agreement. So…sorry! I know you want it. Wait for the book. I know it will be worth it.

Just realized that posting a picture of my cooking right after writing and posting pictures about dining at The Restaurant at Meadowood and at Ad Hoc makes my cooking look ….well…umm… not so elegant. That doesn’t do justice to the recipe writers!!! The recipes are excellent. The presentation of my cooking….that could use some help. ;-)
